My Top 10 Hair Care Products, Tools & Services

So I always find myself making hair care recommendations to family, friends, clients and associates. As we all do!

I thought I would compile a list of some products, tools and services I have used over the years. I hope you find this useful. Feel free to comment on this blog post!!

  1. PLANTMADE- Inches

Plantmade is a company owned by Black hair care enthusiasts, offering plant-powered personal care products.

Their products are Inspired by nature , science and tradition for issues like thinning hair, shedding, dandruff, and hair loss.

Inches by Plantmade is one of my favourite hair oils.

As a dedicated wig wearer or 'wig addict', I find this oil keeps my edges going. With the constant rubbing of wigs against my edges. The oil has allowed for a less negative impact, allowing growth, thickness and strength in that area. I am pleased with results I've gained!

Inches Re-activates sleeping hair follicles, stimulates hair/beard growth and repairs damaged hair.

2. PAW PAW- 7IN 1 Hair Treatment Styler

A Hair & Make-up Artist friend of mine introduced me to this product and I find it a handy product to have in my hair kit.

It is a 7 in 1 Styler which is a heat protector, hair detangler, leave in hair treatment and more.

I tested it out in the "Think Dirty' app to see how Vegan and Natural it claims to be. The app allows for you to learn about the ingredients of a product and catergorises them as 'clean', 'half & half' or 'Dirty'.

Out of a list of 19, the Parfum fragrance was the only 'dirty' ingredient.

It smells absolutely gorgeous and my clients like the smell of it also. I often hear "ummmm whats that?"

Dr Paw Paw you're forgiven on that one! The product is amazing! I like how it's a light weight product, great for blow drying and suitable for all hair types.

3. IVY WILD- Chebe Growth Cream

As many fans of Beyonce and Rihanna would be flocking to buy their new hair care ranges,

I prefer to support local businesses like IVY WILD. I want to be a small supporting contribution to make someone like me from my local town a millionaire!!! Rih Rih and Bey don't need me to increase their bucks.....

The founder, Sherine Walrond from Birmingham, created Ivy Wild to offer non-toxic hair care products and is also dedicated to educating customers.

I have not used all of the range just yet but I am absolutely in love with the Chebe Growth Cream!! It contains Chebe powder, which is traditionally used by the Basara tribe of women in Chad, Africa.

The powder, made from a blend of seeds and local elements, is utilized to promote hair growth and preventing breakage. Ivy Wild has used this powder along with a whipped combo of shea butter, avocado oil and castor oil.

I love the fact that this product is natural, lightweight weight and creamy. I often find some hair products with shea butter too thick and intense to work with but this just simply melts into the hair. It's done my hair wonders since I went for the big chop last summer.

4. ZAIKAII- Human Hair Ponytails

Zaikaii is a UK based Hair Extension supplier that provides top quality Raw Human Hair, Wigs & more.

The Ponytail Range is my favourite and is great for an instant hair transformation. I like the fact that the ponytails have a velcro fastening as opposed to a clip in function. It enables a seamless and natural looking style.

I like that the hair comes double drawn and is ethically sourced. Especially with so much awareness going about on social media about corpse hair *shakes head

The ponytail range comes in Raw Straight, Curly and Kinky Straight.

5. DESIGN ESSENTIALS- Detoxifying Tonic

I was introduced to this product whilst on a course. This product is great for those who wear braids, locs or any other protective styles.

You can cleanse your scalp with this Detoxifying Tonic without using shampoo.

I have many clients who wants their protective style to last and this product helps to keep hair clean whilst in-between washes.

The serum also helps reduce the effects of dandruff and even psoriasis.

Another alternative I recommend is the ORS herbal cleanse

5. ELEVEI ACADEMY

Based In Digbeth Birmingham. Elevei Academy offers training by industry professionals, specialising in Hair, Barbering and Wigs.

I did some hair training with them over the summer and I was impressed by the high standards of training and most of all the dedicated passion shown by the trainers.

Im excited to do more training at the academy as there is so much more I'd like to learn.

I'm sharing this in this blog post because they offer training to everyone.

You don't need to be in the hair industry, They have upcoming workshops for those wanting to learn how to maintain their locs, curls and also learn how to braid.

Check out their website and sign up to their newsletters to keep up to date with upcoming workshops and courses.

6. SILCONE MIX- Morrocan Argan Oil Hair Treatment

I love using this treatment on human hair extensions, wigs and weave. It leaves the hair moisturised, smooth and soft. It gives a revitalising boost to the hair.

I strongly recommend this treatment.

7. THE ORIGINAL BRAID TREE

During a hair appointment, my clients who have offered to separate and pass hair extensions to me in the past can officially retire as a 'hair passer' hee hee! Thank you for your service ha ha!

Described as a Braiders Number 1 helper. I see no lies told here! I was so chuffed to have come across this must have for my hair kit.

The Original Braid tree was created and designed by braiding artist Jo Tafla. It's lightweight, height adjustable and allows me to braid a head must faster.

I'm sharing this for my fellow braiders or anyone who may find this product useful.

8. PHILLIPS- One Blade

I find this a handy little tool to shave the little hairs at the nape of the neck that a client prefers me not to style due to it being a sensitive area or too coarse.

I simply get instructed to sort 'the kitchen' out!!

I'd love to know why that area gets called 'the kitchen' though...... *Heads over to google.....

9. DESIGN ESSENTIALS- Anti Itch and Tension Relief

Design Essentials Scalp & Skin Care Anti-Itch & Tension Relief has a blend of natural oils and nutrients formulated to calm and sooth dry, itchy, sore and irritated scalp.

The last thing you wanna be doing is tapping your head whilst in that important meeting at work having people wondering about your mental health. Hee Hee!

It contains tea tree oil and is ideal for braids, extensions and protective styles.

The nozzle application is great to get in between the tracks of your weave and in-between those braids.

10. AVLON KERA CARE- Styling Wax

This styling wax stick is a must have for me. It gives a great hold and without much effort it keeps the flyaways at bay. I use it on weaves, large braids and general hair styling.

I appreciate that it is suitable for all hair types and doesn't weigh the hair down.

It would be great if they did a smaller version of this though. like the size of a lipstick to get to small areas.
